Systems Engineer, IS Advisor – Southern California Edison (SCE)

This senior systems engineer will support and enhance critical security infrastructure and identity management platforms to protect our enterprise and operational technology (OT) environments. The role involves designing, administering, hardening, and maintaining authentication, privileged access management, certificate services, endpoint management, and physical security systems.

The ideal candidate possesses strong expertise in Microsoft and virtualization technologies, and has demonstrated ability to support highly available and regulated environments.

Responsibilities
  • Review system logs and real‑time alerts for infrastructure to identify trends, investigate abnormalities, and report exceptions to the information security program.
  • Monitor the IT related accepted risks for adding, updating, and removing accepted risks based on changes in technology and vulnerabilities.
  • Monitor the configuration of company‑wide applications to verify they meet the standards required by the information security program.
  • Update the information security program and corresponding cybersecurity policies, procedures, and controls annually based on regulatory changes, feedback from the information security committee, and audit and assessment results.
  • Research, implement, and maintain an information security framework through ongoing compliance monitoring.
  • Prepare risk assessments performed for new critical technologies, applications, or devices that are implemented, revised, or installed.
  • Ensure that security risk management practices are embedded into key business processes; collaborate with partners and security programs to identify, prioritize, and mitigate security risks.
  • Develop acceptable parameters of security risks or guardrails, recommend changes to processes, software, systems, and platforms based on security risk.
  • Coordinate enterprise security policies and communications, gather business participants’ input, implement changes to policies, and advise the business on policy changes.
  • Support, install, and maintain security tools and systems, and track security patches and incidents.
  • Ensure protection of all physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets; correctly access and manage highly sensitive information with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Seven or more years of experience in information technology, information security, and/or cybersecurity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Five years of experience administering enterprise security and infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience in utility, energy, critical infrastructure, or regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of NERC CIP compliance requirements.
  • Experience with Zero Trust Architecture.
  • Experience with Identity Governance and Administration.
  • Cyber Ark Defender or Sentry certification.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Experience supporting physical access control systems such as CCURE.
  • Familiarity with certificate automation and enterprise PKI deployments.
Additional Information
  • Position’s work mode is hybrid: employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on remaining days.
  • Primary work location is Alhambra, CA; alternate locations may be required.
  • Position requires up to 10% traveling and field work throughout the SCE service territory.
  • Position is NERC/CIP impacted; prior to hiring, successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or background investigation, and complete specified training before gaining un‑escorted access.
  • Relocation not required.
