Location:
Full onsite - 900 S. Fremont Ave., Alhambra, California 91803, United States.
Work schedule:
M–Thurs 7:15 am–6 pm (10 hours) at Public Works HQ in Alhambra, CA 91803.
An Informatics Data Analyst works independently to document external data acquisition policies and procedures as well as interface with other business units to define and document data needs and ad‑hoc analysis requirements; identify business practice workflow and process issues and concerns; provide leadership and guidance to define system and process requirements that will optimize system performance and technology utilization by system users;
and design information systems and technologies that ensure access and transparency.
- Develop, implement, organize, and maintain information and reports to document operational and financial performance.
- Collaborate with the quality team, administrators, etc., to design ad‑hoc and other relevant routine reports.
- Monitor the quality programs and work to improve them.
- Compile data from multiple sources and import the data into the relevant database.
- Select appropriate tools and methods to maintain existing programs, ensuring proper data transfer and thorough report documentation to increase efficiency.
- Assist with analysis of external data definitions, documentation, and mapping processes.
- Perform a Quality Assurance function for the data integration processes and repository metrics.
- Collaborate with other staff to document data needs and metric definitions.
- Validate data‑load processes and the quality of data loaded into repositories.
- Maintain, store, map, and analyze data in compliance with policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with LAN and IT Security teams to utilize PGP encryption software and File Transfer Protocols.
- Use SAS, Access, Excel, Business Objects, and SQL to provide data mapping for integration.
- Basic statistical concepts, trend identification, business opportunity analysis, and issue assessment.
- Demographic and database knowledge, field definitions, and data entry/processing practices.
- Data mining, intelligence, statistically valid analysis, and measurement methodologies.
- Packaging data through infographics and other display techniques, and report design options.
- Data interpretation, validation, ad‑hoc analysis, and performance evaluation principles.
- Demographic databases, SQL coding, report services, data warehouse design, and web‑based application design.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAS, and Access.
- Ability to work independently and lead process documentation and stakeholder collaboration.
- Detail orientation, excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Multi‑tasking capacity, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.
California resident candidates only. Work is expected to be done on site, and interviews will be conducted in person.
Experience RequiredMinimum two (2) years of experience in processing, management, and retrieval of information.
Education RequiredPossession of a bachelor’s degree in an IT‑related or engineering field. Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis.
