Preschool Teacher

CPLC's Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs are committed to giving every child, regardless of circumstances at birth, an opportunity to succeed in school and life. The organization provides full-day, full-year early childhood development services to low‑income children ages 0‑3 years and their families in educationally stimulating learning environments. The Migrant Head Start program offers full-day, full-year program services to children ages 0‑5 years of migrant and seasonal farm and agriculture working families, providing support in hand‑picked and row‑crop settings.

The Preschool Teacher promotes school readiness by preparing children and families for school success and life success. The teacher provides high‑quality, developmentally appropriate care and education for children aged 3‑5 in a center‑based classroom within the CPLC ECD Program. Working as part of a center‑based interdisciplinary team, the teacher supports the child in all areas of development while providing education, disabilities, health, and social‑service support to families.

The teacher must abide by all state and federal regulations that apply to care and education of young children, including the revised Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Act, Texas Child Care Licensing (for centers in Texas), New Mexico State Child Care Regulations‑New Mexico Kids (for centers located in New Mexico), Office of Head Start Initiatives and ECD Content Area Plans and Procedures.

The teacher must actively supervise children by sight and sound in all environments, maintain all health and safety regulations to create an optimum learning environment, and facilitate health practices to keep children safe in the school bus, outdoor and indoor environments.

• An associate degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, or a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education (EDE), or coursework equivalent to a major relating to Child Development or Early Childhood Education in a related field. Education obtained outside of the United States of America (USA) must be evaluated by an accredited organization to determine equivalency to USA education standards.
• Minimum 6 months working with preschool children, highly preferred.

• Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred.
• Applicants must have basic keyboard skills and be able to use computers, computer software programs (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe), and web‑based systems.
