General Summary
Assists the Deputy Director in the planning, implementation, and execution of agency safety, risk management, emergency preparedness, and operational programs. Supports compliance with OSHA, DOT, FEMA, and agency standards through safety inspections, incident investigations, training, and corrective action planning. Assists with facility, vehicle, and asset safety, emergency management, and disaster response efforts, and collaborates with departments to identify and mitigate risks.
Provides leadership and support to promote a culture of safety, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across the organization.
- Three years of relevant supervisory experience.
- Ability to assess situations quickly, think critically, make sound decisions under pressure, and respond effectively to unexpected situations or emergencies.
- Understanding the six core competencies of risk management and the skills and ability to apply them in the non-profit environment.
- Bachelor's degree
- Education can be substituted with a minimum of 5 years' experience in managing a safety/operations related department.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Must pass background check
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with employees, management, contractors, vendors, regulatory agencies, emergency responders, and the general public.
- Ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects and communicate across departments to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrate problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify operational or safety concerns, evaluate alternatives, and implement practical solutions.
Light to medium duties include standing, walking, reaching, bending, talking for up to 8 hours a day. Must have good vision. Must be able to lift fifty pounds. Lifting will primarily be confined to occasional on‑premises lifting of boxes of office supplies and minor office equipment. Non-physical demands include performing multiple tasks simultaneously, meeting multiple deadlines, exercising judgement, and working closely with others as part of a team.
