Volunteer Coordinator

Oxford Solutions is working with a local animal rescue organization seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to manage and strengthen its volunteer program. This is a direct-hire, onsite opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, staying organized, and supporting a mission-driven environment.

The Volunteer Coordinator will handle the day-to-day volunteer experience, from onboarding and scheduling through ongoing communication and engagement. The goal is to make sure volunteers feel prepared, supported, and connected to the organization.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers
• Coordinate volunteer orientations, training, and onboarding
• Manage schedules and help maintain appropriate volunteer coverage
• Match volunteers with roles based on interests, skills, and organizational needs
• Maintain volunteer records, hours, and related documentation
• Communicate program updates, opportunities, and expectations
• Help improve volunteer engagement, participation, and retention
• Partner with staff to identify changing volunteer needs

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in volunteer coordination, customer service, training, nonprofit work, or another people-focused role
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Excellent organization and follow-through
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable leading orientations or speaking with groups
• Animal welfare or nonprofit experience is a plus
• Experience with volunteer management software is helpful
