JOB SUMMARY

The Associate Data Architect II is responsible for leveraging expertise in technology areas such as Informatic Transformation, Teradata data warehouse, Hadoop, and Analytics to define and oversee system architecture. This role involves understanding business workflows, designing data acquisition and transformation strategies, creating data models, and ensuring data quality and security. The Associate Data Architect II will also contribute to strategic planning, operational management, project control, knowledge management, technology consulting, sales support, and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leverage expertise in technology areas like Informatic Transformation, Terradata data warehouse, Hadoop, and Analytics, taking responsibility for System Architecture.
  • Implement data extract and transformation processes, data warehousing solutions, data analysis solutions, data reporting solutions, or cloud data tools (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Understand business workflows and related data flows to develop strategies for data acquisitions, data transformation, data modelling, and data storage.
  • Apply business intelligence principles and design data fetching and dashboards.
  • Create designs by preparing data models, information structures, work and data flows, and navigation.
  • Define backup, recovery, and security specifications.
  • Define and enforce naming standards and data dictionaries for data models.
  • Provide guidance to business units for creating use cases for data services.
  • Guide the team in performing estimates and developing proof of concepts (POCs) and solutions.
  • Troubleshoot problems encountered during POC development.
  • Develop and deliver long-term strategic goals for data architecture vision and standards.
  • Create short-term tactical solutions and an overall data management roadmap.
  • Establish processes for governing corporate data assets and metadata, ensuring accuracy and validity.
  • Implement methods for tracking data quality, completeness, redundancy, and improvement.
  • Ensure data strategies and architectures meet regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Engage with external stakeholders including standards organizations, regulatory bodies, and scientific research communities.
  • Establish governance, stewardship, and frameworks for managing data across the organization.
  • Develop and contribute to data management methodologies and standards.
  • Support the implementation of appropriate tools, software, applications, and systems for data technology goals.
  • Collaborate with project managers and business teams on enterprise data projects.
  • Analyze data-related issues with systems integration, compatibility, and multi-platform integration.
  • Act as a point of contact for data management, including coaching and training, and implement testing criteria for data architecture fidelity and performance.
  • Document and track data architecture and environments for an accurate view of the data landscape.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for data reuse, migration, or retirement.
  • Perform data architecture design reviews.
  • Identify opportunities for cost, time, and asset utilization optimization in complex projects.
  • Provide advice to teams facing complex technical issues.
  • Conduct technical audits for complex projects.
  • Define and measure project-specific architectural and technology quality metrics.
  • Publish and maintain a repository of solutions, best practices, and standards.
  • Conduct and facilitate knowledge sharing and learning sessions.
  • Support technical skill building, including hiring and training, for the team.
  • Mentor new team members in technical areas.
  • Cultivate domain expertise to provide optimized solutions.
  • Create architecture onboarding/KT documents for programs.
  • Work with customers, business owners, and other teams to gather and analyze requirements, including NFRs.
  • Analyze gaps and trade-offs, clarifying requirements with customers.
  • Define systems and sub-systems for programs.
  • Set goals and manage performance of technical specialists and team engineers.
  • Provide career guidance and mentor technical specialists.
  • Identify alliance partners and collaborate to create compelling business cases.
