This role helps shape how engineering is done across Play Station.
The RoleWe are looking for a Principal Engineer to lead Developer Experience (Dev Ex) at scale.
In this role, you will treat developer experience as a product—driving platform adoption, reducing friction across the software development lifecycle, and delivering measurable improvements in productivity, quality, and reliability.
You will work across organizations, partnering with senior engineering leaders to influence standards, platforms, and long-term technical direction.
What You’ll Do- Define and drive the Dev Ex strategy across Play Station.
- Own developer experience as a product, with clear roadmaps and success metrics.
- Identify and eliminate friction across the software development lifecycle.
- Drive platform-first adoption of CI/CD, testing, and lifecycle automation.
- Define and promote golden paths for building, deploying, and operating services.
- Lead the evolution of lifecycle automation platforms.
- Reduce tooling fragmentation through consolidation and strong defaults.
- Influence engineering practices to improve delivery speed, quality, and reliability.
- Partner with senior leaders to align Dev Ex investments with business priorities.
- Represent Dev Ex strategy in senior technical and leadership forums.
- Experience leading large-scale platform, infrastructure, or developer productivity initiatives.
- Ability to influence engineering practices across multiple teams or organizations.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, testing, deployment, and service operations.
- Experience balancing standardization with developer autonomy.
- Proven ability to translate technical strategy into measurable outcomes.
- Clear and effective communication skills.
- Experience building internal platforms as products.
- Familiarity with developer portals (e.g., Backstage).
- Experience with application lifecycle management or automation at scale.
- Exposure to AI-assisted engineering or automation workflows.
- Passion for improving developer experience and engineering excellence.
- Shape how engineering is done at Play Station.
- Impact thousands of developers and millions of players.
- Work on long-term, high-impact platform initiatives.
- Partner with strong technical leaders across the company.
- Turn developer pain points into durable, scalable solutions.

Base pay range: $232,300–$348,500 USD.
