Job DescriptionPower Controls System and Simulation Supervisor
We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?
Ford’s Electric Vehicles, Digital and Design (EVDD) team is charged with delivering the company’s vision of a fully electric transportation future. EVDD is customer‑obsessed, entrepreneurial, and data‑driven and is dedicated to delivering industry‑leading customer experience for electric vehicle buyers and owners. You’ll join an agile team of doers pioneering our EV future by working collaboratively, staying focused on only what matters, and delivering excellence day in and day out.
Join us to make positive change by helping build a better world where every person is free to move and pursue their dreams.
We are seeking a highly capable and proactive Advance Power Management Systems Lead to drive the strategic development, integration, and optimization of next‑generation power management systems for Ford's future electric vehicles. This pivotal role involves leading comprehensive responsibilities from concept and architectural definition through development, validation, and launch, ensuring the robustness, efficiency, and cutting‑edge performance of our entire vehicle power architecture.
The Lead will provide technical guidance, mentor team members, and champion innovative solutions to complex power management challenges.
What you'll do:
Strategic Leadership & Architecture:
Lead the definition and development of advanced power management strategies, architectures (12V and 48V), and roadmaps for Ford’s next‑generation FNV
3.x - ICE, FHEV and electric vehicles, ensuring alignment with overall vehicle electrification goals.
Drive the exploration and integration of innovative power management technologies, energy optimization algorithms, and intelligent control systems.
Translate high‑level product vision and customer insights into detailed system‑level (L0 to L5) requirements and technical specifications for the entire power management controls ecosystem.
System Design & Development & Engineering Leadership:
Lead the end‑to‑end system engineering lifecycle for advanced power management systems, from concept and architectural definition through detailed design, integration, and optimization.
Guide and mentor engineers in defining, analyzing, and maintaining comprehensive system, subsystem, and component‑level requirements for advanced power management controls, power supply components, energy storage systems, and their communication interfaces with all electrical loads and modules.
Oversee the development and execution of Model‑in‑the‑Loop (MIL) simulations to validate control algorithms and system behavior for power management at the conceptual and architectural levels, ensuring early design robustness.
Lead the implementation of Software‑in‑the‑Loop (SIL) environments to verify the functionality, performance, and integrity of embedded software for power management units against simulated plant models, bridging the gap between design and hardware integration.
Drive collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers to develop, negotiate, and communicate robust technical requirements and design specifications for cutting‑edge power management components and solutions.
Oversee the development and integration of Power Management System‑Level DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and other reliability analyses, driving the implementation of mitigation strategies to manage severity and occurrence across the system.
Act as a primary technical interface and lead cross‑functional problem‑solving and integration initiatives across HW component Design & Release teams, Architecture, and Software teams to achieve holistic system‑level performance, efficiency, and safety objectives.
Lead Power Management Change Control forum and supplier integration stand‑ups.
