Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?

Overview

In this position...

The global Automotive Safety Office is responsible for establishing policies, strategies and providing independent oversight to ensure vehicle compliance, enhance real world safety and protect the corporate reputation.

You will be the Automotive Safety Office (ASO) lead for the Prevent Action Closure (PAC) process. The PAC process is a critical phase of Ford’s quality management framework, focused on identifying and implementing corrective and preventative actions. These actions are developed with the goal of ensuring the issues under investigation never happen again in the current process or similar processes across the company.

In addition, you will also support various ‘prevent recurrence’ work streams dedicated to enhancing product quality and customer satisfaction.

We are seeking a collaborative candidate who can partner effectively with Quality, Product Development, Manufacturing and Supplier Technical Assistance to refine the PAC process and ensure the PAC papers developed are complete, robust, and impactful.

Responsibilities
  • Single point of contact within ASO for PAC process support, coordination, and improvements.
  • Facilitate PAC reviews with ASO leadership.
  • Coaching of ASO Vehicle Safety and Compliance Integration teams and cross-functional PAC teams on the PAC process per FAP
    03-171.
  • Ensure inclusion of comprehensive systemic and institutional prevent actions within PAC papers to eliminate the opportunity for the recurrence of escape points.
  • Escalate escape point trends to the appropriate quality lead or root cause owner and track the associated institutional prevent actions to resolution.
  • Track PAC paper status and timing using the PAC Summary Dashboard.
  • Connect ASO Vehicle Safety and Compliance Integration Leads with the appropriate PAC teams assigned to each concern for upstream cross-functional collaboration.
  • Conduct 1-year PAC health checks to ensure prevent actions documented in completed PAC papers are still in use and are effective 1 year following PAC closure.
  • Collaborate with PAC leads across the company to support process improvement initiatives.
  • Interface with ASO SMEs to update compliance and due care inspections within the Fresh Eyes Review checklist.
  • Support inquiries regarding in-plant compliance inspections contained within VOPQUG-234 Mandatory Compliance Inspection Report and Audit for Self-Certified (FMVSS CMVSS) Homologated Vehicles.
Qualifications

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

Even better, you may have...

  • Experience in Automotive Safety, Product Development (PD), Supplier Technical Assistance (STA), Quality, and/or Manufacturing.
  • Experience with 3L5W, G8D and PAC papers.
  • FEDE experience with requirements: classification, assessment and evidence.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Strong basis of understanding of Ford’s processes (technology development, product development, design validation and verification, and vehicle operations).
  • Positive problem-solving attitude and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and connect cross-functionally to implement transformative process improvements.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional networking skills.
  • Strong decision-making skills and resolve to raise issues to the right people at the right time.
  • Global understanding of Ford’s processes and products for technical read-across.
  • Familiarity with DFMEA’s and severity ratings, including the new rating tables.
  • Ability to critically evaluate data to make key decisions.
  • Strong desire to improve safety and drive safety culture throughout Ford.
  • Desire to get hands on during fresh eyes reviews (FERs).
  • You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!
