Manufacturing Engineer - Tool & Die
Location:
Allen Park, MI
Job Type: W2 Contract
Expected hours per week: 40 hours per week
Schedule:
7am-3:30 pm EST
Pay: $46 per hour
Position Description: Responsibilities What you'll do...
- Support tooling design reviews to ensure manufacturability and process robustness.
- Monitor tool construction progress and verify compliance with program requirements and standards.
- Coordinate tool tryout activities and support die prove-out to achieve dimensional quality and run-at-rate capability.
- Identify and resolve tooling issues impacting timing, quality, or manufacturability.
- Support build events, PSW readiness, and launch milestones.
- Track and support resolution of Yellow Items and other tooling risks.
- Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, program managers, and tool shops to ensure tooling readiness.
- Document tooling issues and support corrective action implementation.
- Strong background in stamping tooling construction, tryout, and die development.
- Experience working with automotive tool shops and production stamping processes.
- Understanding of die build, tryout, and production readiness requirements.
- Ability to identify tooling risks and support resolution activities.
- Experience working within structured tooling or launch processes (Stamping Tooling Specialist (STS) or similar).
- Strong technical problem-solving and communication skills.
- Strong background in stamping tooling construction, tryout, and die development.
- Experience working with automotive tool shops and production stamping processes.
- Understanding of die build, tryout, and production readiness requirements.
- Ability to identify tooling risks and support resolution activities.
- Experience working within structured tooling or launch processes (STS or similar).
- Strong technical problem-solving and communication skills.
- BSc, Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial OR Electrical preferred).
- Experience supporting automotive program launches.
- Familiarity with global tool shop operations.
- Understanding of part quality requirements and dimensional validation processes.
- Continuous improvement or lean manufacturing experience.
