Test Technician - Chassis Dyno Operator
Job Description
This role oversees day-to-day chassis dynamometer operations in a clean automotive test lab environment. The test technician operates chassis dynos, drives vehicles during tests, and supports emissions testing by setting up equipment, collecting data, and ensuring accurate, reliable test results. Responsibilities
+ Operate chassis dynamo meters for emissions and performance testing on 4-5 vehicles per shift.
+ Physically drive vehicles on the chassis dyno while following defined test procedures and safety protocols.
+ Set up each test by attaching exhaust equipment and related hardware to collect emissions for data acquisition.
+ Perform dyno system setup, checks, and basic troubleshooting to ensure equipment readiness and test integrity.
+ Support emission testing, data collection, and basic data analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness.
+ Assist with instrumentation setup and calibration for test systems when required.
+ Diagnose and resolve issues related to test system instrumentation and vehicle diagnostics during testing.
+ Document test procedures, observations, and results using clear and accurate technical writing.
+ Communicate test status, issues, and results effectively with team members and stakeholders.
+ Maintain an organized, safe, and clean work area within the lab and follow all lab procedures.
+ Adapt to changing test requirements, priorities, and schedules while handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
+ Participate in presentations or discussions about test work, results, and processes as needed.
Essential Skills
+ At least 1 year of hands-on chassis dyno or dynamometer operation experience.
+ Proven ability to operate a chassis dynamometer independently and safely.
+ Strong automotive technical aptitude, particularly in dyno operation and vehicle testing.
+
Experience with emissions testing processes, including exhaust equipment setup and operation.
+ Troubleshooting skills related to test system instrumentation and vehicle diagnostics.
+ Ability to perform and support data collection and basic data analysis for test results.
+ Effective technical writing skills for documenting tests, procedures, and findings.
+ Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
+ Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
+ Comfort presenting information in front of groups when required.
+ Motivated self-starter who works independently and as part of a team.
+ Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to high-quality results.
+ Willingness and ability to work 2nd and/or 3rd shift and maintain a flexible work schedule.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
