Metal Fabricator

Talascend is currently seeking a Metal Fabricator for a leading automotive manufacturer located in Allen Park, Michigan
.

The Metal Fabricator will be responsible for cutting materials to size and shape, welding metal using various tools and equipment, and supporting the shop services team. This role involves working with hand tools, welding equipment, and providing weld support for project work and customer interactions.

• Weld instrumentation, exhaust tubes, and bosses.
• Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning with sanding disks and wire brushes to remove impurities such as scale, rust, grease, and moisture.
• Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment in vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions.
• Keep shop equipment operating by following instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
• Participate in daily shop organization and cleanup.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No previous experience required.

• Certificate in Welding Technology or related.
• Basic knowledge and ability to TIG or MIG weld.
• Good communication skills and detail oriented.
• Knowledge to safely operate and use the Plasma cutter and Oxy-Fuel torch to cut out material.
• Has own tools and rolling toolbox.
