Job SummaryThe Electrical Technician Senior will build, rework, test, repair, and install wiring harnesses on vehicles and the bench. The role will follow instructions as provided through blueprints, bill of materials, schematics, or piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&). The role will follow procedures to set up and run quality checks on various wiring harnesses. The Electrical Technician Senior will mentor and oversee team member"s technical deliverables to ensure Client and customer standards are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assemble, installs, perform functional and safety tests, reverse engineer, and calibrate tools for wiring and components using hand tools and proper assembly techniques by following work instructions (prints, cut sheets, sample harnesses).
- Install lights, brackets, and electrical hardware to special test boxes, automotive components, and vehicles according to specifications.
- Tests wiring and components for correct operation using a schematic and diagnostic equipment.
- Perform wiring reworks and repairs on bench and vehicle, crimp and solder, de-pin terminal, create basic schematics and reverse engineer harnesses.
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs.
- Train, coach, and mentor team members related to their job responsibilities and is available as a subject matter expert to assist the team.
- Lead daily shop organization and clean-up.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 8 years of electrical work experience.
- Certificate in Automotive Electrical Technology or related.
- National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification(s).
- Valid driver"s license.
- Experience installing components on circuit boards.
- Experience with automotive powertrain systems or electric battery systems.
- Broad knowledge of vehicle systems (powertrain, chassis, electrical, thermal, exteriors, interiors, etc.) and related components, component materials & fasteners.
- Mechanical aptitude with basic understanding of automotive systems with ability to crimp and solder wires. Proficient with hand and power tools. Able to operate vehicle lifts.
- Proficient electrical and electronic troubleshooting skills and ability to understand electronic schematics and electronic part documentation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
