Primary
Purpose:
To ensure that every homebound child in the district capable of benefiting from instruction be provided with an on-going educational program.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
* Bachelor's degree in Education and certification in Special Education
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
* Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation
* General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
* Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.
Experience:
* Three years' experience in teaching students on the Autism Spectrum preferred
* Experience in working with parents of students with Autism
Major
Responsibilities and Duties:
* • Works with members of the special services team to identify the educational needs
and the physical and learning capabilities of those students assigned to him/her.
* Devises, with the advice of the student's regular teacher or teachers, an instructional program for each assigned student receiving homebound instruction on a temporary basis.
* Meets with each assigned student on a regularly scheduled daily basis for the purpose of providing instruction.
* Acquires personal acquaintanceship with the student's parents or guardians and works to establish with them an understanding and cooperative relationship based on the student's individual needs.
* Files written progress reports on each assigned student with the student's parents or guardians and, in the case of students temporarily assigned, with their regular teacher or teachers.
* Keeps, maintains, and files such reports and records as the special education director may require, including attendance reports, case evaluation, and the like.
* Assumes responsibility for obtaining materials necessary through the procedures established.
* Interprets the program for the homebound to the regular district staff and to the community at large as required.
* Keeps informed in a systematic way of trends and new methods in education, remaining always alert to possibilities inherent in such information for adaptation to
the particular needs of homebound instruction.
* Performs other duties as the Superintendent may assign.

* Provide professional communication with students, parents, community members, staff and other professionals at all times.
* Use proper phone etiquette at all times, speaking slowly and clearly. Take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
* Ensure superior customer care skills are used via eye contact, facial expressions, voice inflections, body language, and an attitude of "going the extra mile" for others.
* Ensure all requests for information are dealt with in an appropriate timeframe.
* Create and maintain a welcoming, service-oriented environment toward all internal and external customers

Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.
Posture:
Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
Motion:
Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
Lifting:
Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment:
May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district wide travel; occasional statewide travel and out-of-state travel
Mental Demands:
Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress.
Salary:
Commensurate with experience according to District salary schedule. Days: 175
