Professor of the Practice

The Engineering Academic & Student Affairs office, College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time, non‑tenure faculty position at the professor of the practice level. The appointment is a 9‑month term, anticipated to begin September 1, 2026, with possible earlier start. The successful applicant will teach primarily at the undergraduate level and provide extensive support for the Texas A&M Engineering Academies at the Collin College location in Allen, TX.

Duties include developing and implementing improvements to instructional techniques, participating in first‑year faculty meetings in College Station, organizing, delivering, evaluating, and assessing engineering courses and associated student outcomes. Courses may include introductory engineering, Python programming, statics and dynamics, mechanics, and electricity & magnetism. The applicant will also act as a liaison between engineering faculty/staff and the two‑year partner institutions, recruiting students, and advising and mentoring undergraduate students and organizations.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. A minimum 18‑year industry experience as a practicing engineer is required.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Professor of the Practice level must hold a master’s level degree in a closely related engineering or science discipline and have significant college‑level teaching experience in the field or extraordinary applied accomplishments. A minimum of 18 years as a practicing engineer is required.
