Job Description & How to Apply Below

Young children don't recall every skill they practiced. They remember the adult who saw their potential. That defines this role. At Alpha, academic instruction happens in only two hours each day through adaptive technology. This structure allows Guides to dedicate themselves to the work that transforms: cultivating confidence, resilience, communication skills, and the determination to embrace difficulty. Your day won't be spent presenting lessons to rows of seated students.

Instead, you'll coach learners through obstacles, acknowledge their progress, and demonstrate what high expectations look like when supported by authentic belief. You'll guide a single K-3 cohort band—either Kindergarten-1st grade or 2nd-3rd grade. Half your time goes to facilitating dynamic, one-hour workshops on essential life skills including public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback. The remaining time is devoted to individual and small-group coaching, leveraging learning analytics to ensure every student advances toward challenging weekly targets.

Every moment counts. Students should emerge from your workshops more skilled than when they entered and leave your coaching interactions convinced they can accomplish more than they previously imagined. This position isn't designed for those seeking to deliver prescribed curriculum or oversee traditional classroom management. It's meant for someone energized by motivating young learners, driven by measurable progress, and convinced that the right coach can alter a child's path.

If you've inspired children as an educator, athletic coach, camp facilitator, youth mentor, or entertainer, you'll discover a distinctly different educational environment here. This is a full-time, on-site position at an Alpha campus. We recruit across the country, so listings may appear in nearby cities without Alpha locations. Current openings at this salary tier exist in Scottsdale, AZ;
Oklahoma City and Tulsa, OK;
Nashville, TN;
Austin, Georgetown, Dallas, Plano, Fort Worth, and Houston, TX; and Park City (Salt Lake City area), UT.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Facilitate dynamic life-skills workshops that enable K-3 students to develop communication, concentration, feedback reception, and other enduring capabilities through active engagement rather than passive listening.
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group coaching, utilizing Coachbot analytics, established motivation frameworks, and meaningful relationships to ensure every student progresses toward ambitious weekly learning targets.
  • Evaluate life-skill proficiency using Alpha's Test2

    Pass system, continuing to coach students until they exhibit genuine mastery—not merely attendance.
  • Tailor your coaching approach to match the developmental stage of your cohort, whether that involves songs, physical activity, and narrative for younger children or increased autonomy and responsibility for older ones.
  • Cultivate relationships where students feel secure enough to push beyond their perceived limitations.
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Presenting academic content from the front of the room. Students complete academics using adaptive software.
  • Developing curriculum materials from the ground up. You'll refine and customize proven frameworks rather than creating lessons independently.
  • Observing students as they quietly engage with computers. Your function is active coaching, encouragement, and relationship-building.
  • Reducing standards when students encounter difficulty. Growth happens by supporting students to meet the goal, not by adjusting the goal downward.
  • Overseeing homework, marking assignments, or handling standard parent communications.
