We are seeking a highly skilled Facilities Engineer to lead the design, evolution, and operational excellence of the critical infrastructure that powers our nationwide fiber network. This is a high-impact role for an engineering professional who thrives on solving complex infrastructure challenges and wants to influence the future growth of a rapidly expanding telecommunications network.

As the technical authority for facilities infrastructure, you will drive the standards, architecture, capacity planning, and lifecycle management of our Points of Presence (POPs), data centers, regeneration facilities, roadside cabinets, power systems, security platforms, and environmental monitoring networks.

You will collaborate with executive leadership, engineering teams, operations, and major customers to build scalable, resilient, and secure infrastructure capable of supporting next-generation network growth, hyperscale deployments, and mission-critical connectivity services.

What You ll Do
  • Establish and maintain engineering standards, architectures, and best practices for:
  • Roadside and Right-of-Way (ROW) cabinets
  • Communications shelters
  • Carrier-class and hyperscale infrastructure environments
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for:
  • Knowledge of AC and DC power systems
  • Battery backup technologies
  • Generator systems and fuel management
  • Environmental monitoring and controls
  • Telemetry and remote management platforms
  • Physical security, surveillance, and access control system
  • Supporting network expansion initiatives
  • Lead capacity planning efforts across company facilities
  • Perform power studies, load analyses, battery runtime calculations, and generator sizing
  • Develop lifecycle management strategies for critical power infrastructure
  • Create standards for utilization thresholds, augmentation planning, and future growth forecasting
  • Manage battery replacement programs, maintenance schedules, and testing procedures
  • Oversee generator deployments, preventative maintenance programs, and operational readiness
  • Partner with the Network Operations Center (NOC) to define:
  • Monitoring requirements
  • Support disaster recovery, business continuity, and resiliency initiatives
  • Participate in major incident response and provide technical leadership during:
  • Commercial power failures
  • Generator events
  • Facility outages
  • Critical infrastructure incidents
  • Work closely with Strategic Engineering, Network Engineering, Operations, Service Delivery, and Sales Engineering teams
  • Support pre-sales initiatives by evaluating facility capacity, power availability, deployment feasibility, and infrastructure requirements
  • Participate in customer-facing discussions involving strategic deployments and large-scale infrastructure opportunities
  • Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, utilities, data center providers, and technology partners
  • Maintain accurate facility documentation including:
  • Floor plans and layouts
  • Rack elevations
  • Operational procedures and standards manuals
Required Experience
  • 8+ years of experience in telecommunications, critical infrastructure, facilities engineering, electrical engineering, or related environments
  • Proven experience supporting: telecommunications, regeneration facilities, data centers, carrier hotels, or mission-critical infrastructure environments.
  • DC power systems
  • AC power distribution
  • Battery backup technologies
  • Generator systems
  • Disaster recovery and business continuity principles
  • Demonstrated success managing infrastructure projects, power upgrades, facility expansions, and vendor relationships
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage executives, engineers, customers, and operations teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Facilities Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience supporting carrier, ISP, fiber network, cloud, or hyperscale environments
  • Professional certifications such as:
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • BICSI
  • Equivalent industry certifications
  • Experience with:
  • Utility coordination and permitting
  • Site acquisition processes
