Position: Manager, Payment Services

Overview

The Manager, Payment Services will play a critical role in ensuring regulatory and industry standards compliance, while driving operational efficiency within the payments team. Reporting to the Director of Payment Operations, the Manager will oversee key payment processes, including onboarding, underwriting, risk management, and compliance functions for a payments donor management platform that processes over $35 billion in charitable giving. This position requires a strategic, tactical and driven leader who can lead and transform teams, manage client escalations and stakeholder relations, engage with payment processing partners, and execute continuous improvement in merchant experience across payment operations.

You'll Do
  • Strategic Leadership:
    Align team goals with departmental and company objectives and market trends, providing direction for the payments team.
  • People Leadership:
    Cultivate a team culture around company values; be people-focused, teachable, driven, and collaborative.
  • People Management:
    Train and develop team members, communicate clear expectations, conduct regular one-on-one meetings, document progress, and complete performance reviews when needed.
  • KPI Management:
    Measure, report and optimize payment KPIs regularly to achieve goals.
  • Escalation Management:
    Triage and investigate payments escalations across channels, providing timely responses to internal and external partners.
  • Operational Efficiency:
    Drive efficiencies in payment processes using data analytics and BI tools to improve decision-making, resource allocation, and productivity; collaborate with Business Operations to enhance underwriting and risk workflows.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
    Engage with payment processing partners and merchants via email, phone, and video conferencing; build strong relationships focused on operational excellence.
  • Policy and Training Oversight:
    Update and document internal policies and procedures; support training and audit improvements.
  • PCI Compliance:
    Manage PCI compliance audits and certifications, including internal training and enforcement.

    Risk Management:

    Support compliance filings, conduct post-mortems on fraudulent activity, and implement new processes to mitigate risk; oversee portfolio risk management and risk controls.
  • Regulatory Adherence:
    Stay updated on payments regulations and ensure compliance with industry standards.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in payments or Fin Tech roles.
  • A minimum of 3 years managing people.
  • Demonstrated experience and domain expertise in SaaS Embedded Payments or Fin Tech, including acquiring processor, payment facilitator, payments ISO, or similar.
  • Payment processing, risk and compliance certifications such as ETA CPP, CPFPP, ACAMS, APRP are highly desirable.
  • Deep experience in card and ACH payments as well as digital wallets.
  • Proven expertise in risk and governance management in financial services or payments.
  • Confidence working with technology and data systems in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proactive, autonomous executor who collaborates with internal and external partners to problem-solve.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-changing environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire confidence and develop talent.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills with the ability to translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Superb time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage parallel tasks.

  • Compensation Range: $109,067 - $126,032

Compensation ranges are determined by role and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
