Under the administrative direction of the Corporate Director of Credentialling, The Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist will assist in the coordination of all medical staff credentialing requirements. The position provides support to the centralized medical staff credentialing department including the processing of new applications, requests for privileges, and reappointments. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintain up-to-date data for each provider in credentialing database and online systems, ensuring timely renewal of licenses and certifications, running reports, and coordination with hospital & providers to complete privileging process.

Pay: Rate of pay is based on years of experience and qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in hospital medical staff credentialing environment
  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:
  • Maintain credentialing database to ensure the integrity of the practitioner data is current and accurate
  • Enter initial appointment and reappointment application data into credentialing database.
  • Monitor and track progress of applications, as well as status of primary source verifications/documents to ensure timely and accurate completion of practitioner applications, and forwards files to Director when completed.
  • Monitor the initial, reappointment, and expirable process for credentialed practitioners ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies, as well as Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and policies and procedures.
  • Review practitioner applications and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure that all provider applicants complete a thorough background investigation and primary source verification.
  • Perform queries; submit and retrieve National Practitioner Databank reports in accordance with Health Care Quality Improvement Act.
  • Prepare credentials file for completion and presentation to the Medical Staff Committees, ensuring file completion within time periods specified.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
