Position OverviewAllen Eyecare Center is hiring a Full-Time Optometric Assistant / Technician to support our doctors and patient care team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both patient interaction and hands‑on clinical work in a medical office environment.
You’ll work closely with doctors while helping patients through testing, workups, education, and exam preparation.
Key Responsibilities- Perform pre‑testing and diagnostic testing including autorefraction, tonometry, retinal imaging, visual acuity testing, and visual fields
- Accurately document medical history, medications, and patient information in the EHR
- Prepare patients for exams and assist doctors during clinic flow
- Educate patients on treatments, testing, and follow‑up care
- Clean, maintain, and sanitize clinical equipment and exam rooms
- Support efficient patient flow in a busy optometry clinic
- Assist with contact lens training and patient education as needed
- Experience in optometry, ophthalmology, medical assisting, or healthcare preferred but not required
- Strong communication and patient‑care skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced medical environment
- Detail‑oriented and dependable
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Optometry industry experience
- Scribing or EHR documentation experience
- Knowledge of ophthalmic testing equipment
- Contact lens experience
- Established practice serving Allen, TX since 1985
