About the RoleWe are looking for a Senior Manager, Linux Systems Engineering to lead the design, automation, operation, and security of large‑scale enterprise Linux environments. This is a hands‑on technical leadership role within Infrastructure Operations, responsible for driving reliability, standardization, and operational excellence across mission‑critical systems.
You will serve as the senior escalation point for complex issues, mentor engineers, and collaborate closely with Security, Application, and Database teams to deliver highly available, compliant, and well‑documented services. The ideal candidate brings deep Linux expertise, strong engineering discipline, and a continuous‑improvement mindset.
Responsibilities- Architect, deploy, and manage enterprise Linux systems across multiple distributions in on‑prem and hybrid cloud environments.
- Troubleshoot complex OS, performance, availability, and security issues; lead root‑cause analysis and implement long‑term fixes.
- Act as senior escalation for critical production incidents; participate in incident response and post‑incident reviews.
- Build and maintain automation for configuration management, patching, compliance, and system lifecycle operations.
- Administer secure file‑transfer and data‑movement platforms; ensure hardened configurations, performance, and audit readiness.
- Implement system hardening, vulnerability remediation, access controls, and monitoring aligned with compliance frameworks.
- Perform patching, upgrades, capacity planning, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to support business‑critical applications and database workloads.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks, build standards, and operational documentation.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices, standardization, and operational excellence.
- Linux Administration: Deep experience with RHEL, Oracle Linux, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu Server, and CentOS; strong skills in system tuning, networking, storage, logging, and service management.
- Scripting & Automation: Advanced Bash; automation with Python; familiarity with Perl; strong experience with Ansible for builds, patching, compliance, and configuration management.
- File Transfer & Data Movement: Operational support for Aspera, Crush
FTP, GATE, File Catalyst, and secure protocols (SFTP, FTPS). - Security & Compliance: Experience in regulated environments; system hardening, vulnerability remediation, access controls, and monitoring aligned with CMMC, NIST, ISO 27001, or similar frameworks.
- IT Service Management: Working knowledge of ITIL processes (incident, change, problem).
- Database/Application Hosting: Experience supporting Linux platforms running Postgre
SQL, MySQL, and/or Oracle in partnership with DB/application teams.
- 7+ years of hands‑on experience engineering and supporting enterprise Linux environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills across OS, networking, storage, and application layers.
- Demonstrated experience with scripting, automation, and configuration management (Bash, Python, Ansible).
- Experience supporting production operations, including incident response and change management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate across Infrastructure, Security, and Application teams.
- Ability to participate in an on‑call rotation and respond to incidents outside standard business hours.
- Experience in regulated or high‑compliance environments (CMMC, NIST, ISO 27001).
- RHCSA, RHCE, or equivalent Linux certifications.
- Security or compliance‑focused certifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
