Overview

Texas Oncology is looking for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team! This full‑time position will support the Allen location in the Medical Oncology department. Typical hours for this position are Mon‑Fri from 8:30am‑5pm. This position will be either a level 1, 2 or Sr based on candidate experience.

What does the Advanced Practice Provider do? (including but not limited to)

The primary role of the APP is to provide direct diagnostic and therapeutic patient care, in collaboration with practice physicians. The APP impacts quality of patient care and patient outcomes throughout the care continuum. APPs support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.
  • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.
  • Performs procedures after appropriate training.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
  • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Incorporates the developing knowledge of evidence‑based research into clinical practice.
  • Developing knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
  • May provide case management for patients and their families, given limited knowledge of community resources.
  • May promote/provide staff education.
  • Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after‑hour calls.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Advanced Practice Provider position will have the following background and experience:

Nurse Practitioner

Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program. This position is entry‑level and typically requires a minimum of 0‑3 years post‑MSN experience, preferably in the chosen specialty. RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.

Physician

Assistant

Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current NCCPA certification. This position is entry‑level and typically requires 0‑3 years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant, preferably in the chosen specialty. Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
