Job Overview

We are looking for a reliable, customer-focused Relief Store Manager to provide operational support across our self-storage locations throughout the United States.

In this role, you will rotate between facilities as needed, ensuring seamless day‑to‑day operations, delivering outstanding customer experiences, and driving occupancy growth at every location you serve.

The ideal candidate is highly adaptable, takes initiative, and thrives in dynamic environments where no two days look the same.

You’ll step in wherever you’re needed most and make an immediate impact — bringing consistency, professionalism, and energy to each facility you support.

This is a travel‑intensive position covering all stores in our network, requiring regular travel by both car and plane.

As a Relief Store Manager
, you will play a key role in maintaining operational consistency across multiple locations by assisting with customer service, leasing activity, property appearance, and administrative responsibilities.

Success in this role is driven by your ability to quickly adapt to different stores, build strong customer relationships, and help maximize occupancy while maintaining high facility standards.

Responsibilities
  • Provide operational support across multiple self‑storage locations.
  • Deliver professional and responsive customer service through in‑person, phone, and online interactions.
  • Assist customers with rentals, move‑ins, payments, account questions, and general inquiries.
  • Support occupancy growth through customer retention efforts and local outreach initiatives.
  • Perform routine property inspections to ensure facilities remain clean, safe, and well‑maintained.
  • Handle leasing paperwork, payment processing, account management, and related administrative tasks.
  • Monitor delinquent accounts and assist with collection follow‑up procedures.
  • Coordinate with maintenance vendors and track completion of property work orders.
  • Support merchandise sales and maintain adequate inventory levels for retail items such as locks and moving supplies.
  • Step in to support staffing coverage, operational needs, and special projects as business demands require.
  • Promote a positive, team‑oriented culture while maintaining strong operational standards.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service, retail, hospitality, storage, or a related field.
  • Previous leadership, keyholder, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Self‑storage industry experience is a plus but not required.
  • Strong communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and adapting to different store environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Availability to work flexible schedules, including some weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred due to travel between locations.
  • Ability to perform light physical tasks, including walking the property, opening storage unit doors, and occasionally lifting or moving merchandise up to 50 lbs.
