Position: Assistant Store Manager - White House Black Market

Overview

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in promoting a customer and product-focused sales culture, managing sales operations, asset protection, and human resources functions to ensure a great customer experience and maximum profitability.

Responsibilities
  • Performance Culture:
    Analyzes sales reports and KPIs to determine business needs; partners with the Store Manager to execute in-store business and sales strategies. Establishes clear expectations and holds team and self accountable for brand, performance, and behavior standards. Controls payroll and supply budgets. Performs and oversees scheduling, shrink audits, inventory, opening/closing duties, timesheet reviews, payroll accuracy, and merchandise flow processes. Handles financial activities in accordance with policy, including cash handling, price changes, and merchandise handling;

    ensures register transactions are accurate. Ensures compliance with laws, loss prevention policies, and operating procedures; conducts associate training on controls. Administers inventory receipt/dispatch, daily replenishment, and physical inventories. Maintains visual presentation, organization, and facility maintenance aligned with the Brand. Develops a high-performance culture, motivates the sales team to meet sales and productivity goals. Trains and coaches the selling team on product knowledge both online and in-store.

    Trains, coaches, and assists with locate fulfillment and selling.
  • Building High Performing Teams:
    Motivates and inspires the store team, developing a shared vision while modeling core values. Promotes an inclusive, collaborative approach to problem solving. Communicates with store teams and the Store Manager to lead positive change. Seeks personal development opportunities and solicits feedback to build leadership skills.
  • Customer

    Experience:

    Models, teaches, and promotes MAPS principles and standards, offering a cohesive omni-channel experience. Demonstrates sales techniques and product knowledge to assist customers and locate merchandise. Resolves customer concerns promptly. Ensures a fast and efficient register experience and stays current on policies for payments, coupons, returns, exchanges, security, and other operations. Maintains ongoing client communication through customer books, rewards program participation, and customer capture sign-up.
  • Talent:
    Assists in recruiting, hiring, and developing a high-performing team. Supports and follows up on training programs. Coaches store team on performance. Partners with the Store Manager to resolve HR issues promptly. Drives engagement by recognizing and rewarding outstanding performance. Ensures adherence to employment practices and policies.

Other duties as assigned.

This position may be found in multiple brands. Some duties may vary from brand to brand.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of retail management experience preferred
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Excellent communication, verbal, and written skills
  • Able to learn or adapt to technology provided by the company
  • Proven excellent customer service skills with a track record in sales and leadership
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership, training, and team-building skills
  • Knowledge of administrative aspects of store operations
  • Able to communicate with customers and staff
  • Regular attendance is essential to meet company objectives; ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
  • Constant walking/standing — 67-100% of an 8-hour shift
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs — 1-33% of an 8-hour shift
  • Frequent climbing — 34-66% of an 8-hour shift
