THE POSITION The Department of Health (DOH), Bureau of Community Health Systems (BCHS), is looking for a Clerical Assistant 2 to join their team! This position supports the organization’s mission of providing infrastructure for the implementation of core public health functions in a high quality, effective and responsive manner that will positively impact the health status of Pennsylvanians by fielding all customer calls and providing clerical support to the District Office and the State Health Centers.
This position is headquartered in Dauphin County State Health Center.

ResponsibilitiesDESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will answer calls using BCHS and DOH policies and procedures and knowledge of agency, local government, community, and commonwealth programs to provide information and referral on DOH programs to the general public. You will also log calls to the Health Database to provide measures on health program activities. In addition, you will refer calls to other agencies as appropriate, as well as provide appropriate referrals to community resources to meet the identified needs of the client.
You will provide clerical support to professional staff who develop, coordinate, and provide educational programs to increase community and professional awareness and knowledge of public health issues (e.g., support for health fairs, clinics, and disease/animal bite investigations). You will also provide clerical support for clinics and assigned clinical services using DOH procedures to ensure a customer-oriented clinic is communicated, run, and documented to program staff as required.
Additionally, you will provide clerical coverage to State Health Centers as assigned to ensure adequate clerical coverage.

Work Schedule and Additional Information- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30 minute lunch.

Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,108.00 (before taxes). - You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. Required Experience, Training & Eligibility
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Graduation from high school; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
