Position: Construction Inspector (Environmental Projects)

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Environmental Projects Construction Inspector role combines hands‑on inspections across Western Pennsylvania with full‑time remote work when you’re not traveling to project sites. You’ll enjoy steady hours, independence, and the opportunity to protect Pennsylvania’s land, water, and communities – while building a secure future.

  • Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch
  • This is a field position covering project sites in:
    Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, Cambria, Cameron, Clarion, Clearfield, Elk, Fayette, Indiana, Jefferson, Somerset, Washington, and Westmoreland Counties
  • You will report to the Cambria District Office in Ebensburg on an as‑needed basis
  • Remote Work: When not traveling to project sites, you will work remotely from an approved location within Pennsylvania. A securely configured high‑speed internet connection is required. If remote work is not available, you may report to the Ebensburg headquarters office. Remote work availability is subject to change.
What You’ll Do
  • Inspect construction and reclamation projects for compliance with permits and plans
  • Review materials, workmanship, safety practices, and erosion controls
  • Document site activity, findings, and measurements
  • Support environmental and construction compliance efforts
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to project staff
What You Need
  • Two years of construction inspection experience OR
  • An associate degree in a related construction or engineering field OR
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Applicants within three months of completing a qualifying degree will be considered.
