Position: Part-Time, 10-Month Life Skills Support Paraprofessional

Life Skills Support Paraprofessional – Part-Time (10-Month)

Location: Dallastown Intermediate School, Dallastown Area School District

Responsibilities
  • Able to carry out oral and written instructions, including those in the student's IEP to allow access to the educational environment
  • Assisting teachers in presentation and development of learning materials and instructional exercises
  • Performing routine clerical work
  • Working with instructional media, office machines, and equipment
Work Schedule / Pay Periods for 10-Month Positions
  • Work hours:

    9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (5.5 hours per day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch)
  • Schedule follows student attendance: full and half days during the school year (approximately 177 student days mid-August through early June; additional days may be arranged by supervisor)
  • Summers off – no pay through July–August
  • Bi-weekly pay starting mid-September through late-June
  • Immediate inclusion in PSERS
  • Six paid holidays:
    Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Good Friday
  • After a 90-day probationary period: paid leave of 3 personal days and 10 sick days
  • Eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty supplemental pay
  • Other benefits: tax-sheltered annuity program, flexible spending account program, employee assistance program
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED (or completion of an assessment through the special education department)
  • Alternatively: at least two years of post-secondary study (48 credit hours) or an associate's degree or higher
  • Completion of at least 20 hours of staff development activities related to the assignment each school year
  • Child-centered, warm, receptive to children
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing, and to work cooperatively with others
  • Acceptable record of attendance
