July1,2010–Meetsoneofthefollowingfourqualifications:

• Have completed at least 2 years of postsecondary study with a minimumof
  48credithours.
  
  Copyoftranscriptrequiredwithin
  30days of employment.
• Possessanassociatedgreeorhigher.
  
  Copyofdegreeortranscripts required within 30 days of employment.
• Have completed the Credential of Competency for Special Education ParaeducatorsthroughthePADepartmentof
  
  Education.
  
  Acopyofthe credential must be submitted within 30 days of hire into Job Training position.
  AND

As required by the PA Department of

Education:

Each school year, provide evidence of
20hoursofstaffdevelopmentactivitiesrelatedtoposition.

Pro-ration will apply based on the date of hire within the school year.

Minimumoftwoyears'generalexperienceintheworkplace;experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.

CPR/First Aid/AED

• Demonstratedcompetencyininterpersonalrelationshipswithadults and students.
• Knowledgeofthelocaljobmarketandemploymenttrends.
• Familiarwithsocialserviceagenciesthatsupportpost-secondary needs, such as Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Goodwill
• Abilitytorecognizeanddocumentemployabilityskillsofstudents and provide appropriate job matches.

Candidatemustbeabletokeyboardandhaveknowledgeofbasiccomputer programs such as Word and Excel.

• Satisfactorydrivingrecordforpast3years.
• ValidPAdriver'slicense.
• Validvehicleregistration,inspection/emissions,and insurance
• Abilitytousepersonalvehicleforworkrelatedassignment.

Thestrengthandabilitytoliftand/orassistinliftingstudentsranginginagefrompre-schooltotwenty-oneandany assistive appliances, for example: wheelchair.

The ability to physically restrain students in emotional stress by using the Crisis Prevention Institute Training (CPI),Safe Crisis Management (SCM) orQuality Behavior Supports (QBS) method,dependingonprogramneed, for which training will be provided.

Mustbeabletocontextuallyrun/sprint after/toanelopingchildandbeabletohelpalearneroffthefloorshould they drop to the floor under their own power.
