Geo-Environmental Specialist
The Geo-Environmental Specialist is responsible for supporting NESL under the direction of the Geo-Environmental Manager to include completing permits to governmental agencies to fulfill business requirements/needs; researching and completing appropriate grant applications; researching for future business development opportunities; managing property; managing community, property, compliance and improvement projects; working with coworkers and managers to develop compliance plans and to promote compliance with regulations;
and, providing training and knowledge to coworkers and managers dealing with regulated government programs.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and maintain monitoring programs to meet corporate goals. (10-20%)
- Learning, developing and executing monitoring and sampling programs to meet business needs at multiple sites.
- Ensuring site inspections are being performed as appropriate.
- Maintaining permitted disposal records.
- Corporate property management. (5-20%)
- Maintaining property lists.
- Managing property and leases at multiple sites.
- Assisting with exploration.
- Evaluating property inquiries, acquisitions and disposals
- Governmental compliance (50-70%)
- Submitting accurate reports to governmental agencies as required.
- Leading, managing and participating in the resolution of compliance related issues. Insuring understanding and execution of site-specific special conditions.
- Managing unstaffed inactive sites.
- Maintaining environmental permits required for the business.
- Manages administrative tasks (10%)
- Creating financial feasibility studies on new processes, projects and plans.
- Managing accounts and invoices for subcontractors.
- Managing compliance with corporate policies and local, state & federal regulations.
- Updating and informing upper management of trends and issues related to compliance with laws and regulations.
- Assisting with financial planning for retirement of assets.
- Keeping corporate management and coworkers apprised of area of expertise.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geology or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD and other engineering or mapping software.
• Demonstrated knowledge current mining regulations and processes.
• Ability to build professional relationships with leaders and external networks.
• Excellent customer service orientation.
• Must have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Must possess strong attention to detail, good organizational skills with the ability to ensure accurate work.
• Persuasive leadership, but inclined to collaborate for the best team outcomes.
• Ability to work independently but as part of a team concept.
• Flexibility and the ability to operate under stressful, time-sensitive deadlines.
• Proficiency with IntelliCAD, Calson and other engineering or mapping software.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) or related database systems.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record for insurability.
