The Department of Transportation is looking for a motivated Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor (Transportation) who is ready to guide important maintenance and construction efforts. This role gives you the chance to shape safe and reliable transportation systems across the region. You will help plan projects, support field crews, and solve complex engineering challenges. Responsibilities- Project Planning: Develop programs, estimates, and work plans for maintenance operations and future projects
- Engineering Analysis: Review complex issues, perform technical evaluations, and recommend safe, effective solutions
- Crew Supervision: Oversee maintenance crews, assign tasks, inspect work, and support training and performance reviews
- Operational Oversight: Manage materials, equipment, permits, and emergency response activities for the assigned area
- Stakeholder Coordination: Meet with local officials and partner organizations to discuss priorities and address project needs
- Full‑time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch
- Telework: This position does not offer telework options
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer‑in‑Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologist, or
- Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer‑in‑Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline, or
- Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
- This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license
- Pennsylvania residency requirement is currently waived for this title
- You must be able to perform essential job functions
