Job Description & How to Apply Below

We're partnering with a leading global provider of Testing, Inspection and Certification services that has recently acquired a highly specialised engineering and materials testing business. Backed by significant investment, the organisation is entering an exciting phase of growth, expanding its technical capabilities and investing heavily in its people, technology and infrastructure.

This is a rare opportunity to become the technical authority within a business operating at the forefront of nuclear materials engineering. You'll work alongside the operational leadership team while taking ownership of the company's technical direction, leading complex engineering programmes, mentoring world-class engineers and influencing the future of advanced testing technologies.

Why this opportunity?

Unlike traditional leadership roles, this position is designed for someone who wants to remain deeply involved in solving technically challenging engineering problems while also shaping the future capability of the organisation.

You’ll have the opportunity to:
  • Act as the recognised technical expert across nuclear materials testing, fracture mechanics and advanced engineering analysis.
  • Lead groundbreaking projects involving high-temperature testing, impact analysis and bespoke test system development.
  • Influence industry standards through participation on technical code committees.
  • Mentor and develop a team of highly qualified engineers, scientists and technical specialists.
  • Work with some of the most demanding customers across the nuclear, aerospace and advanced materials sectors.
We’re looking for someone with:
  • A PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in fracture mechanics, fatigue, materials science and complex mechanical testing.
  • A background solving technically challenging engineering problems within highly regulated industries such as nuclear, aerospace or advanced materials.
  • The ability to provide technical leadership while remaining hands‑on with engineering and analytical work.
  • Strong communication skills with the credibility to engage both clients and technical teams.

This organisation occupies a unique position within the industry, operating in specialist nuclear testing environments that very few companies worldwide can replicate. Its expertise spans advanced materials testing, engineering analysis and bespoke equipment design, making it a trusted partner on some of the industry's most technically demanding programmes.

The role offers an excellent opportunity to join a growing business where technical excellence is genuinely valued. Alongside a highly competitive compensation package and relocation support, you'll have the chance to influence the future direction of the organisation and work on engineering challenges that have a real impact on critical industries.
