DESCRIPTION

OF WORK

This position provides strong customer service and detailed support within the child support system while interpreting federal, state, and program regulations. You oversee multiple enforcement programs, answer the BCSE Helpline, and review paternity forms to ensure accuracy. You will have an opportunity to utilize your strong Microsoft Office skills, your ability to manage multiple priorities, and your positive, team-oriented approach. As a Child Support Enforcement Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

  • Customer Support:
    Provide assistance to callers and partners by answering questions and explaining child support processes
  • Case Review:
    Examine documents and information to ensure accuracy and compliance with program standards
  • Intergovernmental Work:
    Process interstate requests, forms, and packets in accordance with required rules and time frames
  • Program Guidance:
    Educate agencies, staff, and the public on policies, procedures, and paternity requirements
  • Record Handling:
    Manage, track, and update records, forms, and data while maintaining confidentiality
  • System Usage:
    Use multiple software systems and databases to research information and verify case details

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework:
    You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week after successful completion of a probationary period. You will report to the office 5 days per week during the probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

    The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Four years of experience in a domestic relations office which included the interpretation, application and explanation of policies and regulations and analysis of information; or
  • A bachelor’s degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training including one year in a domestic relations office which included the interpretation, application and explanation of policies and regulations and analysis of information.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirement:
  • This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment. Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check;

    a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
