This position supports computer systems, software, and network operations throughout the institution to ensure users can perform their work effectively. The role helps maintain reliable technology and provides hands‑on assistance with daily IT needs. As a Information Technology Generalist 1, you will perform the following duties:
Responsibilities- User Support:
Assist staff and inmates with computer hardware, software, and file transfers while identifying technology needs - Problem Diagnosis:
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, run diagnostic tools, and coordinate solutions with technical staff or vendors - System Configuration:
Set up and install computers, software, and network components according to agency requirements - Inventory Maintenance:
Track computer equipment, update records, and complete annual inventory reviews - Network Assistance:
Troubleshoot connectivity issues, support LAN operations, and help maintain reliable network performance - Training Delivery:
Provide instruction on hardware, software, and new systems for users throughout the institution
- Full‑time employment, 37.5‑hour work week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch
- Telework: not an option in this position
- Salary: new Commonwealth employees begin at a starting annual salary of $59,345.00 (before taxes)
- Three years of information technology experience in applications development or maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or design, or other IT support/administration services; or
- One year as an Information Technology Trainee or Technician (Commonwealth or equivalent federal title); or
- One year of experience in the cited IT areas and an associate’s degree in any IT field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required
- You must meet the PA residency requirement
- You must be able to perform essential job functions
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
