Senior Material Handler (2nd shift)
Perform necessary tasks in Myerstown site’s warehouse operations to coordinate movement of high-quality materials and products on time and in the right quantities; transport material between Myerstown, PA buildings and off-site locations.
Responsibilities- Ensure a safe work environment by following all safety and ergonomic rules, including any special PPE and SOPs applying to a particular process or area.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and participate in safety improvement projects.
- Transport materials between buildings and off-site locations.
- Maintain accuracy of the Drop Trailer Log and related resources; maintain appropriate handling of all inbound and outbound paperwork.
- Appropriately communicate with distribution centers and transportation companies.
- Responsible for fleet maintenance.
- Perform full range of duties in 3 on-site warehouses: meeting production demands and maintaining production priorities by following site-wide production schedule.
- Read and follow schedule and communicate material concerns to supervision.
- Operate forklift and related equipment (stand-up and sit-down units) and attachments (pull pack, clamp, drum clamp, inverter).
- Operate warehouse equipment including racking systems, battery charging units, wrapping machines, dock plates and scales.
- Perform receiving, storing, and shipping tasks by following SOPs, including inspecting materials for damage, ensuring correct counts, and ensuring materials are clean per cGMPs. Prepare shipping and scrap orders and verify documentation.
- Accurately complete, maintain, and update documentation (electronic and paper) for material movement tasks.
- Pick orders of various raw and packaging materials to support production departments.
- Review and verify team members’ paperwork as needed.
- Other miscellaneous tasks, including material transfers by operating company vehicles on site, mail runs, and deliveries of MRO items; operate box truck for interplant, local, and long-distance trips.
- Provide support to the QA Department (Sample Rooms and testing).
- Pull materials for write-offs; load landfill and recycling trailers.
- Ensure appropriate handling, storage and response to hazardous and sensitive materials.
- Complete all required electronic and paper documentation for each task, including safety observations, quality observations, training, process improvements, work orders and scheduled departmental meetings.
- Submit work orders as needed to maintain equipment or repair racks.
- Coordinate work with external contractors and vendors as directed by supervision.
- Contribute to a team-oriented culture and continuous process improvements by sharing knowledge, training others, and taking ownership of self-development and team development.
- Utilize automated inventory systems (e.g., SAP, MES) for material movement and storage, scrap transactions, reconciliation, SAP inventory cleanup, cycle counting, and empty bin reports.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to read/interpret/follow instructions on workplace documentation such as SOPs and Work Instructions.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Previous experience using motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment.
- Experience handling materials in a government-regulated GMP or SOP environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely in a production environment.
- Strong mathematical aptitude (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, metric system).
- Willingness to work overtime as required based on production/warehouse demands.
- Willingness to work 2nd shift (3:00 PM - 11:20 PM).
