Packaging Technician
The Packaging Technician supports the safe, accurate, and compliant packaging of pharmaceutical and clinical products in a cGMP-regulated environment. This role involves operating manual and automated equipment, performing detailed quality checks, and maintaining precise documentation to ensure product integrity and regulatory compliance. The position requires strong attention to detail, comfort working in cleanroom and freezer environments, and the ability to follow standard operating procedures consistently.
Responsibilities- Perform manual and automated packaging, labeling, filling, and assembly of pharmaceutical and clinical supply products in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
- Operate, set up, and clean packaging and labeling equipment following established procedures and documentation requirements.
- Complete in-process inspections and quality checks, including verification of counts, weights, labeling accuracy, and product appearance.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation, including room logs, equipment logs, batch records, and inventory counts.
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety policies, and cleanliness standards to ensure product integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Perform cycle counts and component reconciliation to ensure accurate usage and accountability of materials and finished products.
- Support room and equipment cleaning and sanitization in compliance with SOPs and regulatory standards.
- Use computer systems for job sign-in, data entry, and tracking in-process actions.
- Collaborate with Quality, Production, and other departments to support inspections, audits, and production goals.
- Identify and report deviations, quality concerns, or safety issues to leadership in a timely manner.
- Work effectively in a cleanroom environment, including proper gowning and adherence to environmental controls.
- Adhere to all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, including masks and other respiratory protection as needed.
- Demonstrated hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and the ability to perform repetitive tasks efficiently with both hands.
- Working mathematical skills, including counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages.
- Ability to interpret 2D diagrams and batch paperwork to ensure proper assembly and packaging of clinical supplies.
- Ability to meet all physical requirements stated in the essential job functions with minimal exceptions or assistance.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team to complete assigned tasks accurately and on time.
- Ability to take initiative, follow through on commitments, and adapt to changing priorities or circumstances.
- Willingness and ability to accept and learn from feedback, including feedback related to corrective or preventative actions.
- Ability to work in primary, secondary, refrigerated (2 to 8°C), and frozen (-20°C) environments, including spending up to 80% of the day in a freezer if needed.
- Ability to stand continuously, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, bend frequently, squat, and reach above shoulder level.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and execute English work documents, including SOPs, work instructions, knowledge assessments, cGMP guidelines, and safety procedures.
- Comfort working in a cleanroom environment that requires gowning and strict adherence to cleanliness standards.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a GMP or cGMP-regulated environment, particularly within pharmaceutical or clinical packaging, is beneficial.
- Familiarity with packaging, labeling, filling, and quality inspection processes in a production or laboratory setting.
- Experience using computer systems for data entry, electronic documentation, and tracking production activities.
- Previous exposure to cleanroom operations and aseptic or controlled-environment procedures.
- Comfort using personal protective equipment (PPE) such as filtering face masks, powered air-purifying respirators (PAPR), N-95 masks, half-face masks, and safety glasses.
