Registered Nurse – Danville State Hospital (1st & 2nd Shift – 12 Hour Shifts)

OVERVIEWThe department provides dedicated, high-quality psychiatric care to residents of Danville State Hospital. The position seeks hard‑working, enthusiastic, compassionate, and caring Registered Nurses committed to delivering exceptional care to our consumers.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide professional nursing care and treatment services, including assessment of patients' physical, psychosocial, and mental health status.
- Use nursing diagnosis and treatment to develop and implement individual treatment plans.
- Document the psychiatric component of nursing care in correlation with treatment‑plan performance goals.
- Serve as charge nurse, directing and coordinating nursing care delivery on an assigned unit and applying professional and psychiatric nursing concepts, techniques, and procedures.
- Full‑time employment.
- Shift options:
- 1st Shift – 6 shifts of 6:45 am–7:15 pm + 1 shift of 6:45 am–3:15 pm in a 2‑week pay period (30‑minute lunch).
- 2nd Shift – 6 shifts of 6:45 pm–7:15 am + 1 shift of 2:45 pm–11:15 pm (30‑minute lunch); 2nd shift receives $1.25/hour shift differential.
- Rotating schedule, work every other weekend, and holidays as assigned.
- New hires may be eligible for a $1,000.00 Retention Incentive Payment (subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement).

Not available. - New employees begin at a starting annual salary of $88,130.00 (before taxes).
- Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- Employees with a temporary practice permit must obtain licensure within 12 months, as defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
- PA residency requirement currently waived.
- Applicants 60 days from graduation from an approved nursing program must provide proof of a current PA temporary practice permit or Registered Nurse license upon appointment.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Conditional offer requires a satisfactory medical exam and drug screening.
- Position falls under the Older Adult Protective Services Act; requires submission of criminal history reports (PA State Police and FBI clearance).
