Position Overview

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to join the Clinical Services team at Clarks Summit State Hospital. We are looking for someone who is caring, motivated, and confident in providing important medical services to our patients.
Job Responsibilities- Conduct patient histories, physical exams, and evaluations for complex health needs.
- Order and interpret lab tests, imaging studies, and consultations.
- Develop care plans and prescribe appropriate medications or therapies.
- Observe patient progress during daily rounds and adjust care as needed.
- Work with physicians, staff, patients, and families to coordinate care.
- Respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies and follow established procedures.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. Schedule may change based on operational needs.
- Possible evening, weekend and holiday on‑call responsibilities.
- No telework option.
- Salary is non‑negotiable in some cases.
- Eligible for a $1,000.00 Retention Incentive Payment if criteria met.
- Valid CRNP certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
- Certification in Adult Care or Family Care specialty area.
- Valid CRNP Prescriptive Authority Approval to prescribe and dispense drugs.
- PA residency requirement waived for this title.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Conditional offer requires medical examination.
- Position falls under the Older Adult Protective Services Act; submission of satisfactory criminal history reports required.
