THE POSITION
The Department of Military & Veterans Affairs is seeking hardworking and caring Licensed Practical Nurses dedicated to the care of residents at the Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home.
Description of WorkThis position supports the daily care and well‑being of residents in a long‑term care setting. You will work closely with Registered Nurses to ensure safe and accurate care.
- Medication Management:
Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and verify accuracy - Resident Care Support:
Assist with feeding, grooming, and specialized care while observing resident needs - Assessment Assistance:
Contribute to assessments, communicate findings to the care team, and maintain confidentiality - Record Keeping:
Document daily care, chart treatments, and maintain required medical records - Safety Compliance:
Follow infection control procedures, universal precautions, and report safety concerns - Team Coordination:
Collaborate with RNs, guide CNAs, and participate in meetings and training
- Full‑time employment; 12.5 hours/day; 75 hrs/pay period
- Nights (6:45 PM - 7:45 AM)
- Work every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

New employees in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania begin at a starting salary of $67,560.00 (before taxes)
Special Requirements
- Active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania
- Employees with a temporary practice permit must obtain Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within one (1) year per the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing
- PA residency requirement currently waived for this title
- Eligibility for applicants within 60 days of completing a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing; proof of current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Licensed Practical Nurse license must be provided at appointment
- Must be able to perform essential job functions
- Conditional offer may require satisfactory completion of a medical examination
- This position falls under the Older Adult Protective Services Act, requiring submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports (PA State Police and FBI clearance)
