Registered Nurses at Norristown State Hospital play a key role in assessing needs and delivering high quality care for individuals receiving treatment. They support patients through careful monitoring, teamwork, and clinical decision making. As a Registered Nurse, you will perform the following duties:

  • Patient Assessment: Evaluate physical, mental, and emotional status to guide care
  • Care Planning: Develop and adjust treatment plans based on patient needs
  • Medication Management: Prepare and administer ordered medications and treatments

    Collaboration:

    Coordinate care and communicate with interdisciplinary staff
  • Safety Practices: Maintain safe environments and follow infection control measures
  • Crisis Response: Use approved techniques to respond to urgent situations

Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM (2nd shift), with a 30 minute lunch.
    • Rotating schedule, work weekends and holidays as assigned
    • Overtime and travel as needed.

  • Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $90,052.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS Necessary

Special Requirements
  • This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Other Requirements
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • If you are within 60 days of graduating from a school of nursing approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting. At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Registered Nurse license.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements
  • A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and a drug screening test.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
