The Lead Registered Nurse (RN) Urgent Care is a clinically competent practitioner of pediatric, family-centered care. The Lead Registered Nurse serves as a resource for the clinical staff in the Urgent Care setting and assists the Nurse Manager/Office Manager by providing clinical oversight and direction that ensures the safety and quality of the care provided to patients and families.
The Lead RN is responsible for promoting and advancing the professional development of all clinical associates in the ambulatory setting through role modeling, mentoring, and providing feedback. In consultation with the Nurse Manager/Office Manager, the Lead RN monitors the ongoing clinical performance of clinical associates, which includes registered professional nurses, licensed practical nurses, medical assistants and other unlicensed assistive personnel. Provides necessary coaching and collaborates with the Nurse Manager/Office Manager and Physician in Charge to facilitate the day-to-day clinical operations of the office.
EssentialFunctions
- Provide cross coverage to other Urgent Care locations in the Delaware Valley when necessary.
- Perform the essential job functions of the Registered Nurse job description.
- Participate in the interviewing and hiring of clinical staff.
- Coordinate and monitor orientation of new clinical associates to ensure they meet 90-day performance goals.
- Provide oversight of clinical staff to ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are followed in the provision of patient care.
- Monitor and ensure completion of annual competencies for clinical staff.
- Serve as flow facilitator for clinical staff in the accurate and timely completion of patient care.
- Utilize resources including but not limited to telephone call monitoring, EMR chart reviews to provide quantitative and qualitative feedback to clinical staff.
- Collaborate with nurse/office manager to ensure professional behavior of clinical team members through monitoring of adherence to Nemours Standards of Behavior.
- Manage medication and vaccine processes to ensure compliance with pharmacy standards and applicable regulations.
- Participate in lead nurse meetings and share pertinent information with clinical associates.
- Assure completion of quality control and Point of Care Testing (POCT) requirements for all clinical associates.
- Implement and maintain standard clinical workflows to support an efficient and effective care model.
- Role model appearance and behaviors that promote a positive image of nursing.
- Provide care that meets professional standards of practice and regulatory requirements.
- Complete other duties and projects assigned by manager.
- BSN Required
- Compact RN license, PALS certified within 90 days of hire
- BLS from the American Heart Association
- Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) or appropriate national certification recognized by the ANCC preferred
- 1 year of experience
