Clinical Research Nurse C/D
Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) – C or D – in the Breast Cancer Research Team at The Abramson Cancer Center (ACC) of the University of Pennsylvania.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with Research Team Leaders and Principal Investigators to initiate study procedures for new IITs and industry-sponsored clinical trials.
- Manage all aspects of Phase I–IV clinical trials, including participant safety, adverse event reporting, and compliance with regulatory standards (UPHS, JCAHO, GCP, etc.).
- Work directly with physicians to design, set‑up, and execute clinical trials, and participate in audits, investigator meetings, and site initiation visits.
- Coordinate with laboratory, infusion, radiology, advanced practitioners, triage, inpatient, and pharmacy teams, providing service education and in‑service support as needed.
- Establish nursing plans of care, administer or oversee medications and study interventions, and provide expert patient assessment and symptom management.
- Review and report clinical and laboratory data in real time to the Principal Investigator, facilitating protocol‑specific management of toxicities and adverse events.
- Provide psychosocial support, triage participant questions, and refer to social work or chaplaincy when appropriate.
- Collect, review, and report study data, maintain case report forms and the Clinical Research Management System (CRMS), and support IND reporting and reimbursement tracking.
- Coordinate specimen transport, submit study documents to IRB/CTSRMC/IBC/CHPS, and perform other regulatory submissions.
- Provide coverage and support to other research nurses and coordinators and, for CRN D, supervise non‑licensed personnel.
- Registered Nurse licensed in Pennsylvania without restriction or limitation (multi‑state license acceptable).
- Clinical research experience preferred; oncology experience highly preferred.
- For CRN C:
Bachelor’s degree plus 2–3 years of relevant experience (or equivalent). BSN preferred. - For CRN D:
Bachelor’s degree plus 4–5 years of experience (or equivalent), with 3–5 years of clinical research experience preferred. Master’s degree in a science‑related field preferred. - Proficiency with Title 21 CFR, ICH, and GCP guidelines.
- Strong communication, critical‑thinking, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early morning, evening, and conference travel; cross coverage possible.

Pay Range$62,000.00–$95,094.34 per year
