Nursing Assistant​/Evening & Evenings - PACU and Peri-Operative Team

Job Summary

Geisinger is proud to offer a Nursing Assistant position with a $1500 sign‑on bonus, a minimum hiring rate of $16.25 and up to $3 shift differentials for evenings, nights, and weekends. Candidates may also receive up to $40,000 in financial support to become a nurse.

• Deliver high‑quality patient care and meet orientation and long‑term scheduling requirements.
• Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and strong attendance, and act as a proactive, engaged presence on the care team.
• Perform a wide range of direct patient care activities and clerical duties, including patient assessments, documentation, and patient safety watch.
• Maintain specimen integrity, assist with activities of daily living, and support daily patient hygiene and linen changes.
• Process specimens and conduct point‑of‑care testing, including instrument maintenance and quality control.
• Troubleshoot equipment and supplies, report problems and take corrective action.
• Act as a preceptor and mentor for new staff, students and other associates.
• Perform clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths in accordance with unit standards.
• Transcribe and process orders, schedule and release tests, coordinate patient transportation, and manage lab supplies.
• Communicate with food services regarding patient diets and manage supplies within the unit.
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain clerical equipment such as computers, fax machines, phones, and other devices.
• Assist with the transport of non‑controlled medications, blood products and other medications as needed.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) – required.
• Preferred:
  Current RN, LPN or similar certification.
• Strong communication skills, computer literacy and basic mathematics proficiency.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
