Research Associate-Orthopaedic Surgery

Overview

University of Pennsylvania, Perelman School of Medicine, Orthopaedic Surgery Department, is seeking candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. The appointment will initially be for one (1) year, with continuation during that period and renewal based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years).

Location:

Philadelphia, PA.

• Conduct scientific research using in vitro and in vivo models for cartilage and meniscus tissue engineering approaches and, more generally, across the musculoskeletal system.
• Collaborate on grant proposals and journal publications; participate in the department’s educational programs as assigned; and mentor and teach junior lab members.
• Work in an interdisciplinary environment with experts in engineering, biology, and medicine.

• Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering (or equivalent) and postdoctoral experience in research fields related to regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, and/or translational animal models.
• Expertise in tissue engineering, biomaterials, mechanical testing, cartilage/meniscus, large animal models, and biomaterials synthesis.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to publish research results in peer‑reviewed journals.
