Position: Culinary Team Member (Full Time)

Fallingwater
, a property entrusted to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, designated as a National Historic Landmark and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is seeking a full-time Culinary Team Member for the Fallingwater Café.

Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Culinary Team Member assists the Executive Chef and Sous Chef with food preparation and delivery for the Fallingwater Café and special events, as required. This position is responsible for opening and closing the kitchen, daily prep tasks, maintaining cleanliness, and to support service through consistent execution and adherence to food safety standards.

Job Duties
  • Assists with preparation and cooking of food items for the daily Fallingwater Café menu, group dining, specialty tours, and events.
  • Assists with increased production needs during high-volume days or special events.
  • Collaborates with front‑of‑house staff as needed to support smooth service.
  • Completes daily prep tasks including portioning, labeling, and proper storage.
  • Prepares food items following pre‑established standards and recipes, and adheres to production schedules and portioning guidelines, always maintaining consistency.
  • Opens and closes the kitchen according to established procedures. Completes end‑of‑shift cleaning duties of designated kitchen areas.
  • Assists with receiving, rotating, and storing products using proper inventory practices.
  • Properly stores or packages food and grab‑and‑go items, and coordinates the timely transfer of goods to the Fallingwater Café.
  • Follows all food safety, sanitation, and temperature control guidelines.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and food‑safe cooking workspace throughout the shift, complying with food‑service government regulations, as directed by supervisor.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of all kitchen areas, equipment, and dish stations.
  • Monitors and communicates kitchen inventory needs, prep levels, and production notes to supervisors.
  • Works closely with Executive Chef and Sous Chef on special events, assisting with food preparation, set‑up, and clean‑up.
  • Supports the Conservancy’s cost containment and sustainability efforts, as applicable.
  • Always provides excellent customer service and exhibits professionalism around guests in the Fallingwater Café as well as in special event settings.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as needed.
Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand up to 8 hours.
  • Must be able to bend, move, and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work with dangerous equipment; including knives, slicers, and ovens.
  • Frequent bending and stooping.
  • Work in a hot environment, sometimes with/near open flame.
Qualifications

Prior food service experience in a restaurant kitchen and some knowledge of food preparation required.

Strong time management, attention to detail, and consistency standards.

Culinary school degree, professional training, or on‑the‑job training experience preferred.

Knowledge of food safety, storage, sanitation practices, and government regulations preferred.

Knowledge of attractive food plating and display preferred.

Must be able to work early mornings, weekends, evenings, and holidays and be flexible with schedule and hours.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work efficiently in a structured environment required.
