they gather information, complete applications, and move business through the submission
process.
Our platform combines AI, automation, and integrations with the systems agencies already use
to reduce repetitive data entry, simplify workflows, and help insurance professionals move
business faster.
As we continue to grow, we're looking for our first dedicated Business Development
Representative to help build the next stage of our sales organization.
The OpportunityAs Sembley's Founding BDR, you won't just be stepping into an existing sales development
playbook — you'll have a hand in helping us build it.
You'll work directly with our founders and sales leadership to develop our outbound motion, test
messaging, identify high-potential prospects, and create new opportunities with independent
insurance agencies across the country.
Your primary focus will be generating qualified sales opportunities through a combination of
prospecting, cold outreach, networking, and consistent follow-up. You'll connect directly with
agency owners, producers, operations leaders, and other decision-makers to understand their
businesses and start meaningful conversations.
This role also goes beyond traditional outbound prospecting. You'll have opportunities to attend
insurance industry conferences and events, meet prospects face-to-face, and build relationships
with Sembley's partners and others throughout the insurance technology ecosystem.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to grow.
This role is designed to provide a path into an Account Executive position within 12-24
months, based on performance, development, and readiness.
What You'll Do- Identify and prospect independent insurance agencies across the U.S.
- Generate new sales opportunities through cold calling, email, Linked In, networking, and other outbound channels
- Research target accounts and understand their businesses before reaching out
- Develop personalized outreach that speaks to each prospect's potential challenges and workflows
- Connect with agency owners, producers, operations leaders, and other decision-makers
- Qualify prospects and uncover opportunities where Sembley may be a strong fit
- Book qualified demos and create pipeline for the sales team
- Consistently follow up with outbound prospects, inbound leads, and previously engaged opportunities
- Maintain accurate prospect, activity, and pipeline information in our CRM
- Work directly with sales leadership to test messaging, sequences, targeting, and prospecting strategies
- Attend select insurance conferences, trade shows, and industry events
- Network with prospects and build relationships throughout the independent insurance community
- Develop relationships with Sembley's technology and industry partners
- Share feedback on what you're hearing from prospects and help us continuously improve our sales approach
- Develop a deep understanding of Sembley, the independent insurance market, and the problems our customers are trying to solve
- Help establish the processes and best practices that can be used as Sembley's sales team grows
- 1–3 years of experience on an inside sales or business development team, with a strong foundation in outbound sales and pipeline generation
- Experience with prospecting, networking, and new business development through phone, email, Linked In, events, or other channelsA strong desire to grow into an Account Executive role within 6-12 months, based on performance, development, and readiness
- Ability to research prospects, understand their business and potential pain points, and create thoughtful, personalized outreach rather than relying solely on generic sequences and templates
- A solid understanding of the sales process, including lead qualification, pipeline creation, follow-up, and CRM discipline
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage directly with agency owners and other business decision-makers
- Comfortable with cold outreach, rejection, persistent follow-up, and the structured daily activity required to consistently create new opportunities
