The Park Maintenance Worker position with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources offers a chance to care for the natural beauty of Pine Grove Furnace State Park. Each day brings hands-on tasks that help visitors enjoy our safe and welcoming outdoor spaces. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, problem-solving, and taking pride in a job well done.

This position involves semi-skilled maintenance and construction work that supports the safety and upkeep of Pine Grove Furnace State Park. It requires the use of tools, equipment, and practical skills to complete daily assignments. As a Park Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties:

  • Building Repairs:Perform maintenance tasks and assist skilled workers with carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and related repairs
  • Grounds Care:Clean facilities, mow grass, remove snow, trim trees, and keep park areas in safe condition
  • Construction Support:Mix concrete, install amenities, prepare surfaces, and assist with renovation or repair projects
  • Equipment Operation:Operate mowers, saws, chippers, vehicles, and other small equipment needed to complete assignments
  • Visitor Assistance:Provide helpful information to park visitors in a friendly manner
  • Safety Compliance:Use protective equipment, follow safety practices, and complete required records and forms

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately April 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately April 2027.
  • Work shifts/days vary, will work 5 days/37.5 hours per week to include weekends and holidays
  • Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
