Position Summary

Responsible to use the skills and education required to install, repair, and conduct preventive maintenance on all plant equipment and the facility as assigned.

Essential Functions

Maintenance of machine equipment and hand tools.

Troubleshoot a problem beyond basic component replacement with two or more specific trades.

Installation, alteration, preventive maintenance, and repair of various types of production equipment, including but not limited to cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery or plant equipment.

Ability to work on hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electronic components.

Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.

Responsible for proper administration of LOTO, confined space and other OSHA guidelines.

Department Specific / Non-Essential Functions

Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures to eliminate risk to health and the environment. Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately.

Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment efficiently.

Maintain production schedules.

Participate in peer‑based teams (e.g., Natural High Performance Teams) and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5‑S.

Other duties may be assigned later.

Minimum Requirements

Education required/preferred: High School diploma or GED. Minimum of two years trade school or equivalent experience.
Experience: Industrial experience in a similar industry preferred.

Qualifications:
- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in basic mechanical or electrical skills.
- Excellent precision measuring ability.
- Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and steam systems.
- Understand practical aspects of preventive and predictive maintenance systems and proper lubrication selection & application.
Skills /

Competencies:
- Basic computer skills – Microsoft Office package.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to use all general mechanical hand tools and light power tools.
- Knowledge of light machine shop tools.
Other

- Ability to work well in a team environment.

- Detail oriented.
Assessment: Employee must pass pre‑employment screening.

Organizational Relationships / Scope

Report directly to the Plant Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
Work closely with Maintenance to resolve issues with the equipment.

Physical Conditions

Work requires occasional, frequent, and continuous tasks with repetitive motions. Lift up to 30 lbs; may involve bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to work under restrictive conditions and be prepared for flexible hours and short notice overtime.

Standing is required for extended periods of time. Carrying, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling are done frequently. Climbing, stooping, and grasping are performed occasionally.

Requires a high degree of manual dexterity, which may be performed under restrictive conditions.

Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.

Must be able to work in environments with exposure to high elevations, equipment with guards and safeties removed for troubleshooting, high voltages, steam pressure, high‑water pressure, and confined spaces.

Employee may be required to follow other job‑related instructions and to perform other job‑related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
