Planning and Development Director
The Planning and Development Director serves as the City's chief planning and economic development official, responsible for providing strategic leadership, professional planning expertise, and administrative oversight for the City's planning, zoning, community development, economic development, redevelopment, and related initiatives. The Director develops and implements policies and programs that promote responsible growth, neighborhood revitalization, business investment, housing development, and long-term community sustainability.
KnowledgeA high level of knowledge, including the ability to navigate through federal, state, and local laws/regulations pertaining to community development, economic development, short- and long-range comprehensive planning, zoning, housing, sustainability, and transportation planning.
QualificationsMust have graduated from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal planning, economic development, community development, or public administration.
OrganizationThe DPD is designated as a non-classified, non-merit, at-will position. Lines directly to the Safety Service Director.
CompensationSalary range $65,000 to $84,000
