Job Description & How to Apply Below
Arrowhead Talent Solutions is assisting a reputable and rapidly growing manufacturer in the greater Alliance OH area on a search for their next Director of Human Resources.
Position Summary
The Director of Human Resources will oversee all HR operations across multi-site plant production and corporate administration. This role focuses on workforce planning for skilled skilled-trade labor (welder/fabricators, assemblers, painters), plant safety compliance, labor relations, talent acquisition, and retention in a high-throughput industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Workforce Planning & Recruiting: Lead recruitment strategies for shop-floor talent (welders, mechanics, assembly line operators) and technical personnel (manufacturing engineers, supply chain specialists). Partner with local vocational trade schools and apprenticeship programs.
- Safety & Workplace Compliance: Collaborate directly with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) managers to ensure full compliance with OSHA standards, manage Workers' Compensation claims, and foster a safety-first shop culture.
- Employee Relations & Retention: Oversee resolution of plant floor disputes, manage performance evaluations, and implement retention initiatives tailored to direct and indirect manufacturing labor.
- Compensation & Benefits: Oversee competitive wage structure designs using regional industrial benchmarks, shift differential pay policies, and health/retirement benefit plan administration.
- Training & Onboarding: Partner with plant management to build robust shop-floor safety and technical skills onboarding programs, reducing early turnover and acceleration time to productivity.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 7+ years of progressive HR leadership, specifically in a manufacturing or industrial environment (metal fabrication, automotive, or heavy equipment manufacturing preferred).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification preferred).
- Skills: Strong working knowledge of OSHA guidelines, labor laws, payroll/HRIS software, and experience managing high-turnover hourly talent pools.
- On-site Presence: Must be comfortable spending regular time on the plant floor interacting directly with production supervisors and assembly crews.
