Maintenance Specialist

Summary

Maintenance Specialist provides all-encompassing responsibility for a specific maintenance function responsibility and/or multiple maintenance functions as a specialty. Including but not limited to: electrical, HVAC, plumbing, painting, masonry, carpentry, crane, mobile equipment, grounds, machine, hydraulic, power tools, welding equipment, computer aided operations equipment, robotics.

Shift hours:
Mon - Fri 7am - 5:30pm with additional overtime.

Pay Range: $27.50 - $36.25

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform and abide by safety policies and procedures while performing related assignments.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, safe and healthy working environment.
  • Repair, detect malfunctions, and regularly maintain equipment and/or physical structures, associated with specialty.
  • Work independently and bring projects and repairs to completion in a timely manner.
  • Maintain tooling, accessories, and equipment in safe, clean and in good working condition.
  • Focus is primarily on maintenance projects that fall within the work specialty, including the coordination of other projects, equipment, tools, parts and schedules while reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, materials, and identify when items need to be ordered.
  • Enter information related to specialty into inventory data system.
  • Analyze repair request and troubleshoot.
  • Conduct emergency maintenance and repair works.
  • Provide assistance to co‑workers as needed and directed.
  • Attend job training and safety programs organized by the maintenance department, EHS, and H.R.
  • Adhere to company policies, safety regulations and OSHA requirements.
  • Perform maintenance tasks based on pictures, blueprints, written descriptions, and oral instructions from Supervisor, including technical diagrams.
  • Confer or correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or non‑conformance to specifications.
  • Follow industry best practices, applicable codes/regulations, and/or plant standards for all work activities.
  • Perform, understand, comprehend, and communicate basic math functions primarily related to all facets of Maintenance Specialty.
  • Clean and keep organized work areas during and at the end of the shift.
  • Any other related duties assigned.
Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience
  • Ability to communicate and respond to safety policies, procedures, and concerns.
  • Four years of facilities maintenance experience including preventive and corrective maintenance, including industrial and/or commercial facilities maintenance associated with specialty.
  • Skilled in use of tools, materials, and equipment of the specialty trade.
  • Strong understanding of a variety of repair techniques and tooling operations associated with specialty.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate computer skills with MS Office (spreadsheets, word processing, e‑mail).
  • Ability to perform basic math and measurement functions.
  • Ability to read, understand, and comprehend job specifications, measurements, blueprints, and/or detailed drawings.
  • Oral comprehension and expression skills to listen to and understand information and ideas presented verbally and then communicate them verbally.
  • Ability to concentrate on a task over a period without distraction.
  • Ability to work the assigned shift schedule.
  • Ability to work alone or as a team.
  • Ability to don and doff personal protective equipment needed for specialty; willingness to pass a respirator fit test if respirator is required.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Certification in area of specialty preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds; maneuver larger objects with assistance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and be at heights during shift.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing or plant environment while maneuvering self throughout work areas and/or products or equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, push, pull, climb, stoop, bend, reach, handle, talk, and hear.
  • Personal Protective Equipment don and doff associated with specialty.
  • Ability to perform some tasks outside in all seasons of weather.
